Pyromancer Felt Plushie - Free Pattern
I've played and enjoyed exactly one video game my entire life. A beautiful puzzle game with a touching story called "Old Man's Journey." I'd always rather make something tangible and colorful and soft (like a quilt) than spend hours with nothing to show for my time. But I played this one through to the end, and wouldn't let anyone help me.
In a house full of gamers (husband, 14-year-old and 9-year-old), this fact has become a bit of a legend. My kids ask me about the game from time to time, and they want to see it and play it, but the game is downloaded on an old console that we don't use anymore. (They actually could play it, I'm finding out today, so maybe there's a family game night in our future.)
Fast forward from 2017 to this summer, when I saw trailers for the new game Sunderfolk. It felt like a game I might enjoy. It's kind of a table game that you play on a console with your phone as both your controller and your hand of cards.
So we played it (as a family this time - it's a multiplayer game). Even for a non-gamer like me, it was fun! We chose characters to play as, and worked together to go on missions and protect a little village.
The character my youngest chose suited him surprisingly well. The Pyromancer is a little orange lizard with fire powers. He's small, so he can dart around to toast our enemies, which is great. But if he squeezes too close to any of us he scorches us a bit. Which happens pretty often.
As someone who (as mentioned) loves making things, I couldn't resist stitching up a felt plushie version of the little scorcher.
You can download instructions to make your own, too! If you enjoy the game as much as I do, you'll love bringing this fiery little cutie into your life.
